Cambridge’s Favourite Networking Event

In Cambridge, there are well in excess of 50 regular networking events, each with their own niche, target audience, time of day and formality, all aimed at a small number of the 9,000+ self-employed workers in the city. Many of these are so popular, they also attract many from neighbouring towns and villages.

Networking is frequently seen as a valuable tool to increase brand awareness, reach out to new audiences, as well as to share ideas with their peers. But which is the city’s favourite?

Here at Cambridge Business Lounge – where we host our own Mastermind Group and CBL Women’s Network events – we are looking to find the city’s favourite networking event/group, as well as the reasons why.

To cast your vote ==> CLICK HERE

Everyone who votes can also enter a draw to win a 4 Day Coworking Pass, worth £70.

You can also access a list of all the networking group and events that take place in Cambridge by clicking here.

The survey closes on Thursday 31st August and results will be announced soon after.

The winner will be featured – with the results – in the business section of the Cambridge Independent in September.

CBL Network- A Business Network in That Works With You

CBL Network is a series of informative talks, surrounded by engaging conversations and informal networking, usually hosted at Cambridge Business Lounge. They are inspiring, engaging and an enjoyable way to meet new and familiar faces, as well as to get to know the people behind the businesses they represent.

The speakers who come to talk at CBL Network are there to share the stories of their professional journey, or they are experts in a field that challenges the status quo of traditional business and who’s knowledge can be applied to a wide range of businesses.

This video highlights two of our CBL Network events, from 2015, – hosted by Jeremy Waite and another by Cameron Webb – and captures the nature of our very informal and informative events.

To find out more details of our events, visit our Meetup Group, follow us on twitter or track the hashtag #CBLNetwork.

Big Day Catering – The food was a real highlight of the evening.
Cambridge Union Society – One of our favourite venues in Cambridge.

CBL Summer Networking BBQ 2014

Thursday 4th September 2014 saw the inaugural CBL Summer Networking BBQ in the beautiful setting of the Cambridge Union Society.

Over 55 local professionals and business owners met for an informal evening of cocktails, great food and (judging by the photos) laughter. As one tweet received put it, it was:

“Quite simply one of the nicest networking events in recent years. Lovely people, atmosphere and setting”

As well as those who attended, huge thanks go to all the people that made it such a success. They are:

Collaborating Businesses in The Heart of Cambridge

Cambridge Small Business Mastermind Group

How does this mastermind group work?

Each month, we run a breakfast meetup themed around collaborative problem solving. Bring the challenge that your business is facing to the event and, as a group; we will brainstorm solutions and work together to help your business as well as the others in the room.

What is the process?

Step 1: We start with one person’s business to ask what their challenge is.

Step 2: We go round to the room of business owners to give them the opportunity to ask any questions and understand the challenge of the business better

Step 3: Around the room again for each person to say “If this was my challenge, I would….”.

Result: The person who’s challenge it is would then have a number of solutions for them to choose from that will help them to move their business forwards

What is the benefit to my business?

There are no sales pitches, but there will be a variety of experiences and industries in the room, all there to help you overcome your business challenges. Whatever it is that is holding you back right now, you will leave a number of ideas to help you move forward.

Can I stick around and work afterwards?

For those who want to continue to co-work for the rest of the day & enjoy the benefits of working around others, with high speed WiFI and great coffee, there is a desk waiting for you at a discounted price.
