Cambridge Business Lounge is a private venture, co-founded by husband and wife team, Ed Goodman and Nicky Smerdon-Goodman who, since understanding the need for Start-Up and Small Business support in Cambridgeshire, conceived the idea in late 2011 and opened the doors to CBL on 8th January 2013. They have since expanded the idea and opened St Ives Business Lounge in the spring of 2015.
Since 2003, Ed has been training, supporting and mentoring thousands of start-ups and small businesses across all industries, to help get their business off the ground, or develop existing knowledge in social media marketing, business planning and more. Much of Ed’s training has covered the length and breadth of the country including key note presentations at large scales seminars and exhibitions including Earls Court, ExCel London, City Hall, Sheffield and The National Space Centre. Ed has also worked with larger corporations designing and delivering training projects to improve internal performance from commercialisation launches to stakeholder management. In his spare time, Ed loves spending time with his family as well as watching live sports, learning the guitar and had his first book published in January 2015 entitled ‘New Business: Next Steps” which is available to buy here.
After completing a BA (Hons) Degree in Health Promotion, Nicky went on to have 10 years professional experience in Community Health and Social Welfare within the charity sector. Since 2007 Nicky has been providing administrative support to a number of businesses with work including invoicing to database management, and stock fulfilment to travel arrangement. Not only will Nicky be providing much of the support required for our customers to start up and grow, but Nicky also runs a tight ship around the office at Cambridge Business Lounge and, when Nicky isn’t running the office, she enjoys Zumba and Pilates, looking after their two sons and baking (something our co-workers can enjoy tasting from time to time).
